Puducherry CM hikes subsidy to Housing scheme beneficiaries

Chief Minister N Rangasamy announced in the assembly on Tuesday that the subsidy provided to beneficiaries of the Kamaraj Housing scheme has been increased to Rs 5 lakh. Concluding the debate on the demands for grants to departments under his purview, he mentioned that beneficiaries would receive an additional Rs 5 lakh under a central government housing scheme, bringing the total to Rs 10 lakh for each beneficiary. The subsidy aims to replace huts with concrete structures, and the scheme is named after former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Kamaraj.

The Chief Minister further announced that the monthly assistance for retired reporters would be raised from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000, and that current presspersons would receive free laptops. Additionally, house sites would be allocated to journalists not yet covered under the existing scheme. He added that several reporters have applied for the monthly pension, which would be sanctioned soon.
