JSCL to construct Tawi riverfront development project

Jammu Smart City Ltd (JSCL) and Shree Balaji Engicons Ltd signed a pact on Wednesday for the development of the right and left banks of the River Tawi in Jammu, similar to the Sabarmati Riverfront in Gujarat.

According to officials, the agreement was signed and exchanged between JSCL Chief Executive Officer Avny Lavasa and Shree Balaji Engicons Director Vinay Agrawal.

They said that the signing of a contract for the building of the Tawi riverside, an ambitious project for the city of temples, marked a turning point for JSCL.

The officials told the media that work on the project will begin soon to improve its overall appearance and provide new opportunities for tourism and economic development.

Lavasa told the media that the project will enhance the aesthetic value of the River Tawi by enhancing natural purifying capabilities, as well as promoting environmental and urban infrastructure sustainability.

Lavasa requested that the project executing agency expedite the work and complete it within the specified time limit.

According to Agrawal, the organisation would start working on the big project as soon as possible and finish it on time.

A 3.5 km riverfront is intended to be built in two phases as part of the project. According to the official, the first phase will run from the 4th bridge to the Tawi Bridge, while the second phase will run from the Tawi Bridge to the Gujjar Nagar Bridge.

Officials said that the paths will be built on both sides of the river to provide for simple public access.

According to officials, the project also includes riverbank protection along the Tawi, as well as the installation of diaphragm walls, a lower promenade, a retaining wall, and embankment construction.

By promoting local development and using technology to generate smart outcomes for citizens, JSCL aims to improve people's quality of life.

City beautification, solid waste management, IT-enabled infrastructure, road and parking enhancement, disaster and emergency management, and civic infrastructure development are the primary components of the Jammu Smart City Projects.
