Kerala Govt and Adani Vizhinjam Port to ink supplementary pact

The Kerala government, in collaboration with Adani Vizhinjam Port, is preparing to sign a supplementary concession agreement after the state cabinet gave its approval. The cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, reviewed and approved the draft of the new agreement. This supplementary agreement revises the timeline for the completion of the second and final phase of the Vizhinjam Port project, which was originally set to be completed by 2045.

Under the revised terms of the agreement, the project’s final phase will now be completed much earlier, by 2028. This significant revision reflects the government's commitment to expediting the development of the port, which is seen as a crucial infrastructure project for the state’s economic growth. The new timeline is expected to accelerate progress and ensure that the port becomes fully operational in a much shorter period, providing a boost to trade and economic activities in the region.
