JM Baxi Ports names Alpesh Sharma as container business COO

Captain Alpesh Abhay Sharma has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the container business of J M Baxi Ports & Logistics Ltd. Overseeing sales and operational effectiveness of container terminals, including ICD, CFS, and Rail, Alpesh will take on overall responsibility for the container business under J M Baxi Ports & Logistics. According to J M Baxi Ports & Logistics, his leadership will be crucial in guiding our strategic efforts and making sure we continue to be at the forefront of industry innovation. Alpesh will work closely with the teams to improve operations and spur revenue development, reporting directly to Group Managing Director Dhruv Kotak. Hapag-Lloyd AG, a German container shipping company, owns 40% of the unlisted J M Baxi Ports & Logistics. After working for over 13 years at Dubai's DP World Ltd., where he held several important positions throughout India and Southeast Asia, Alpesh has joined J M Baxi Ports & Logistics. He held the positions of Vice President of Commercial (Ports and Terminals) for Southeast Asia, CEO for Thailand, CEO of LCIT Terminals in Thailand, and CEO of NSICT at Jawaharlal Nehru Port. Additionally, he has held a number of board positions at DP World APAC and DP World Subcontinent. Before that, he served as the Country Head for Operations at OOCL (India) and Maersk Line (India). J M Baxi Ports & Logistics continued, "His deep understanding of container terminal operations and the commercial landscape will be instrumental in driving our growth and creating opportunities for our business." J M Baxi Ports & Logistics manages inland container depots, bulk logistics, rail logistics (container trains), cold chain logistics, heavy project logistics, and container terminals at Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Visakhapatnam Port, Deendayal Port (Kandla), Haldia Dock Complex, and a multiple-purpose terminal at Paradip Port. Operations for processing containers at V O Chidambaranar Port will shortly begin.
