World's highest rail bridge in Srinagar to be completed in FY25

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Rajya Sabha on Friday that the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) is anticipated to be completed within the current financial year. He stated that, of the total 272 kilometers of the rail link, 255 kilometers have been finished.

Vaishnaw provided this information in response to queries from BJP MP Ashok Chavan, who had sought details regarding the status of the USBRL. Chavan had asked about the total expenditure incurred on the construction so far, the projected costs for the near future, and whether any trial runs of electric engines had been conducted on the railway bridge being constructed over the Chenab River. He had also requested information on when the rail route would become operational
