Tunnel construction for Kanpur Metro corridor 2 to begin soon

Construction of the tunnel for the underground section of Corridor-2 (CSA to Barra-8) of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project is set to commence shortly. All components of the fifth Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM)—the first for Corridor-2—have been successfully lowered into the launching shaft at Rawatpur. Assembly of the TBM parts is currently underway in preparation for the "Initial Drive."

The underground station being constructed under Corridor-2, located near the elevated station at Rawatpur, will serve as a crucial link between the two metro corridors. The total length of this underground section is approximately 4.10 km.

Trains traveling from CSA to Barra-8 will enter the underground section via a ramp under construction near Agriculture University. They will navigate through the Rawatpur, Kakadev, and Double Pulia underground stations before exiting the tunnel through the ramp. From there, they will transition into an elevated section that includes stops at Vijaynagar Chauraha, Shastri Chowk, and Barra-7, ultimately reaching Barra-8.
