TRSL begins trainsets production for Namma Metro?s Yellow line project
The contract, originally between BMRCL and CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co Ltd and signed in December 2019, faced challenges resulting in delays from the initial deadlines. To mitigate these delays in rolling stock supply, CRRC extended its timeline and subsequently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Titagarh Rail Systems. Under this MoU, Titagarh will manufacture 34 out of the required 36 trainsets for the Yellow Line project at its advanced facility.
According to the press release, "Only two train sets, comprising twelve coaches in total, will be produced in China."
The Yellow Line, spanning 21 km from RV Road to Bommasandra, is a crucial metro line aimed at enhancing connectivity and easing traffic congestion in Bengaluru. Its completion is expected to significantly improve intra-city mobility.
Titagarh has established a dedicated stainless steel production line at its facility to meet the project's specific requirements. Production commenced on May 18, 2024, with the first train set scheduled for delivery in August 2024.
"The company's ongoing investments in advanced manufacturing technologies and its steadfast commitment to quality and innovation continue to bolster its success and contribution to national infrastructure," the release added.
