Tripura Rail Electrification: Rs 46 Cr Investment to Modernize Network

Tripura is undergoing a significant infrastructure transformation with a Rs 46 crore railway electrification project aimed at upgrading its network and connecting it to India’s national grid. Funded by IRCON Railway Construction Company, the project includes the establishment of three traction sub-stations across the state.

The Teliamura Substation, scheduled for completion by February 2025, and Udaipur Substation, expected to be operational by December 2024, are key components of this initiative. The Kumarghat P K Bari Substation, which was completed in March 2023, is already generating revenue.

The electrification project will lead to the introduction of electric trains, providing cleaner, safer, and more efficient transport. This will enhance connectivity, boost revenue, and improve the state’s transportation infrastructure. Moreover, the launch of Rajdhani Express services has marked a significant milestone in enhancing regional connectivity.

Officials are optimistic that once the project is completed, Tripura will see faster trains and improved overall transportation efficiency, significantly impacting the state’s economic growth.
