Telangana Greenlights ?24K Cr Hyderabad Metro Phase II

The Telangana government has sanctioned a budget of ?24,269 crore for Phase II of the Hyderabad Metro, marking a major step in expanding the city’s urban transit infrastructure. This ambitious project aims to enhance connectivity in Hyderabad's growing urban landscape by adding approximately 62 km of new metro lines, addressing the city’s expanding population and its increasing commuting demands. Phase II will include multiple corridors, targeting areas currently underserved by rapid transit, especially on the outskirts.

The project is set to benefit residents with improved access to public transportation, aiming to reduce road congestion and promote sustainable commuting options. The Phase II extension, combined with the existing metro infrastructure, will create a more comprehensive transit network, expected to increase the Hyderabad Metro’s overall ridership significantly. By supporting quicker and more efficient travel, it will also likely boost economic activity in newly connected areas.

Hyderabad Metro Phase II’s development is in line with Telangana's broader urban planning vision, emphasizing public transit integration to meet the city's future mobility needs. Authorities anticipate that this expansion will also contribute to reduced air pollution and decreased traffic jams, aligning with Telangana’s goals for eco-friendly urbanization.
