Ranchi, Hatia & Tatanagar railway stations to be redeveloped at Rs 11 Bn

The central government has allocated Rs 11.4 billion for the redevelopment of three major railway stations in Jharkhand—Ranchi, Hatia and Tatanagar. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared this update via video conferencing on Monday, February 3, 2025. 

“The redevelopment will enhance passenger amenities, improve connectivity and modernize infrastructure,” Vaishnaw stated. At Hatia station, a second entry gate is under construction in the western section, along with residential blocks. The relocation of offices is also in progress. Rs 3.5 billion has been set aside for these developments in the 2025 budget, as announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. 

Tatanagar station in Jamshedpur is also set for a major revamp. The Railway Ministry has invited EPC tenders for the project, which will open on April 9, 2025. Rs 3.48 billion will be spent on its redevelopment to enhance passenger comfort and station aesthetics. 

The redevelopment of these three key railway stations is expected to significantly boost railway infrastructure in Jharkhand, ensuring a better travel experience for passengers. Officials from the South Eastern Railway Ranchi Division were also present at the announcement.
