Railways plans Pavagada-Madakasira rail route

South Western Railway (SWR) has announced that tenders have been called for the construction of a new Pavagada-Madakasira Railway Line. It was stated that this project is part of the Tumakuru-Rayadurga New Railway Line initiative and spans 22 kilometres.

Project overview According to the announcement, the new railway line will run between Chainage 84/000 and Chainage 106/000, with Pavagada and Madakasira being highlighted as the key stations. The construction is intended to improve connectivity in the region and will be designed for trains to travel at speeds of up to 110 km/h.

Scope of work The project entails various construction tasks, including:

? Civil, building, electrical, and telecommunication works: The focus will be on establishing the necessary infrastructure for the railway line. ? Track works: The objective is to lay down tracks to ensure smooth train operations. ? Major and minor bridges: It was outlined that three major and 32 minor bridges will be built to facilitate the route. ? Road bridges: The plan involves constructing 21 road under bridges and four road over bridges to seamlessly integrate road traffic. ? Electrification and signal systems: Electrical systems and signals will be installed and commissioned for train operations.

Project timeline and cost As per the announcement, the estimated cost of the project stands at Rs 2.65 billion. It was further indicated that the project is anticipated to be completed in 18 months under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode.
