Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is constantly making dedicated efforts to integrate modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and IOT-based devices into its operations, to improve both safety and passenger convenience. In one such significant move, an advanced Water Level Monitoring System on trains was inaugurated in the Brahmaputra Mail Express train at Kamakhya Railway Station. This innovative system marks a major step forward in water management on long-distance trains, designed to ensure continuous and reliable water availability for passengers. The Water Level Indicator, a real-time water monitoring system, has been installed as a pilot project on one rake of the Brahmaputra Mail Express.

94 railway stations in Trichy division get QR code digital payment facility
Trichy Railway Division of Southern Railway has facilitated QR code enabled payment options for passengers at 94 railway stations. Using the digital payment system, passengers and accompanying non-travellers can book reserved and unreserved tickets and platform tickets. Trichy railway division has 151 railway stations, of which 94 railway stations are covered in the initiative promoting digital payments. Out of the 94 stations, passengers at 38 major railway stations can book all types of train tickets by using the QR code digital payment mode.

DMRC to install platform screen doors on all Phase 4 corridors
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that all corridors in Phase-4 of the metro expansion will feature Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) to help manage passenger queues and enhance safety. Elevated stations will have ‘half-height’ PSDs, while underground stations will be equipped with ‘full-height’ doors. The PSDs for elevated stations will match those on the Pink and Magenta lines of Phase-3. In contrast, the 27 underground stations will have full-height PSDs, standing 2.15 metres tall, across approximately 40 km of the underground corridor.

NER's loss of Rs 60 million in purchase of LED lights was avoidable: CAG
The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has identified financial losses to the tune of Rs 60 million to the exchequer in the procurement of LED lights by the office of the deputy chief engineer (DCE) electrical workshop of the North Eastern Railway (NER) in Gorakhpur. According to the report, 9W tubular LED for Rs 891 per unit and 5W LED lamps for Rs 571 per unit were supplied whereas the same ICF specification LEDs procured by NER’s chief material manager (CMM) in Gorakhpur in October 2018 were bought at much lower rates from another company which quoted 9W tubular LEDs for Rs 170 per unit and 5W LED lamps for Rs 160 per unit.
