RailTel Corp surges with a Rs 1.25 billion order from Western Railway

RailTel Corporation of India witnessed a gain of more than 2% as it revealed that it had been awarded a work order worth Rs 1.25 billion by Western Railway for the implementation of a unified communication infrastructure.

The company stated in a stock exchange filing that the project encompasses the implementation of IP MPLS LAN Infra, VOIP exchange, and IP-based control communication. RailTel also mentioned that this involves replacing the UTN communication network of Western Railway.

It is noteworthy that IP MPLS stands for Internet Protocol Multi-Protocol Label Switching, and VOIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol exchange.

RailTel informed the exchanges that the project is scheduled to be completed by August 3, 2025.

In the preceding month, RailTel, a state-owned company, secured a work order worth Rs 1.62 billion from Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti for the supply and implementation of integrated infrastructure and IT solutions in JNVS schools. The contract, awarded under the PM SHRI Scheme, is set to be accomplished within 180 days.

During the same month, RailTel Corporation also obtained a contract worth Rs 390.88 million from the Bihar Education Project Council. The contract pertains to the supply of teaching-learning material for classes 4 and 5.

Before these developments, the company had clinched an order of Rs 350 million from RVNL for providing Data Centre Hosting and Application Support services.

Notably, RailTel Corporation's profit after tax (PAT) in Q3FY24 witnessed nearly a doubling year-on-year, reaching Rs 620.14 million, in contrast to Rs 310.95 crore reported in the corresponding quarter a year ago.
