Puri Station transforms swiftly with Amrit Bharat Scheme
The ongoing efforts at Puri Railway Station are primarily focused on enhancing the station's train handling capacity, with a sanctioned cost of Rs. 1.61 billion allocated for the work.
During a discussion about the project, Prabhat Singh, Deputy CE/Con-I/Bhubaneswar, stated that the redevelopment work for Puri in Odisha is advancing swiftly. He mentioned that upon completion in July 2025, the station will not only be able to accommodate more trains but will also offer improved passenger amenities.
He elaborated, saying, "We are converting the entire station into a world-class facility. The building will be G plus Three (Ground plus Three), along with the concourse. The platform area will also be expanded. Following the renovation, the entire building will be air-conditioned."
Furthermore, he explained that a substantial parking space is under development, which includes a designated area for electric vehicle charging. Additionally, six escalators will be installed, and facilities like a rest room for TTE, a retiring room with 150 beds on the top floor, and dormitory facilities will be made available.
