Construction firm Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) has emerged as the lowest bidder in the construction tender for the 38.44 km long metro line from KR Puram to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) line.

On Tuesday, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) opened the financial bids for the construction of the KIA metro line, for which five bidders appeared. The technical bids were opened in June.

The Managing Director of BMRCL, Anjum Parwez, told the media that the final decision of the bid would be taken after a month of opening the bids, confirming that NCC was the lowest bidder.

He further added that some processes are to be taken before awarding the contract. BMRCL needed approval from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which is funding the metro line.

On Wednesday, Chief Secretary Ravi Kumar and Parwez inspected the RV Road to Central Silk Board to check the progress of the metro line. Parwez told the media that the metro line work is right on track, and the corporation is looking forward to beginning the operations of the metro line by the end of 2022.
