Mumbai Metro Tunnel Boring Machine Disha Completes Breakthrough

Tunnel Boring Machine Disha, operated by J Kumar Infraprojects, has completed its breakthrough at Airport Colony Station for Mumbai Metro’s Line Seven A. The machine, also known as T Sixty-Two, is a dual-mode Terratec TBM with a diameter of six point six eight metres.

The tunnelling was carried out as part of the up-line tunnel between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport’s Terminal Two and Airport Colony.

This work falls under contract package CA-Forty-Eight, awarded by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority in the year twenty nineteen at a value of approximately Rs 1.998 bn .

Mumbai Metro Line Seven A spans three point four kilometres, with two point five kilometres underground and zero point nine four kilometre elevated. The line features two stations — Airport Colony and Terminal Two — enhancing east-west connectivity and reducing travel time for commuters in the metropolitan region.

The breakthrough marks a major milestone in the Red Line’s expansion, bringing Mumbai closer to an integrated metro network.
