MP govt approves Indore-Ujjain Metro rail project
Yadav also confirmed ongoing efforts to strengthen all railway routes in Ujjain. The first phase of metro projects in Indore and Bhopal is currently under construction, with approvals granted for subsequent phases.
The state government has recently unveiled plans to create a new metropolitan city by merging sections of Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, and Dhar districts, aiming to transform the Malwa-Nimar region into a major economic hub. Indore, the commercial centre, will anchor the development, while Ujjain's historical trade significance, Dewas’s industrial potential, and Dhar’s agricultural strengths will contribute to the region’s growth.
After reviewing preparations for the 2028 Simhastha in Ujjain, Yadav announced the completion of the tender process for the six-lane Ujjain-Indore highway and stated that work on the Ujjain-Jaora Green Highway would commence soon.
He further outlined plans to develop Ujjain into a religious destination akin to Haridwar. This initiative includes upgrading facilities in ashrams and dharamshalas for saints and pilgrims, with additional projects such as medical and Ayurveda centres to be established with the support of devotees.
