Lucknow Metro Phase Two Charbagh-Vasant Kunj Nears Final Approval
The corridor will have 12 stations—seven underground (including Charbagh, Aminabad, and Chowk) and five elevated (such as Thakurganj and Vasant Kunj). The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) aims for completion within four years, shorter than the initial six-year timeline. Groundwork, including soil testing, is currently 40 per cent complete.
Once operational, phase two will integrate with the existing 22.87 km Airport-Munshipulia line, creating a 34 km network. This expansion is expected to significantly enhance east-west connectivity, improving travel across Lucknow’s key localities.
