Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Alstom Transport have secured a contract to supply key systems for Mumbai Metro’s 35.2 km Line 4 and Line 4A (Green Line), linking Wadala, Kasarvadavali, and Gaimukh. Package CA-234 includes 39 six-coach trains (234 coaches), CBTC signalling, telecommunications, platform screen doors, and depot machinery. Following bid reissuance by MMRDA in February 2024, L&T emerged as the lowest bidder. The project, funded by a `49 billion loan from Germany’s KfW, will take 3.22 years. Phase 1 certification is targeted for August 2026, though prior delays may impact the timeline. Maintenance will continue for 17 years.
