Kolkata Metro's Green Line 2 Sees 29 Lakh Passengers Since Launch

Since the commissioning of its Green Line 2, Kolkata Metro has witnessed an impressive footfall of approximately 29 lakh passengers traveling between the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade and Dakshineswar-New Garia corridors from March 15 to June 30. The Green Line 2, which includes the unique under-river stretch, commenced commercial operations on March 15.

The Esplanade station, which serves as the interchanging point between the Green and Blue lines, has seen significant enhancements to facilitate smoother transitions. Queue managers have been installed at the Esplanade Metro station to ensure a seamless interchange of passengers between the Old Esplanade station (Blue Line) and the New Esplanade station (Green Line).

In related news, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has announced its plans to complete the construction of two piers near the Metropolitan crossing on the EM Bypass by next month. These piers are part of the ongoing development of Kolkata Metro?s New Garia-Airport route. The RVNL, with the support of Kolkata Traffic Police, has implemented a 90-day traffic block starting June 13 to facilitate uninterrupted construction while maintaining traffic flow.

This series of developments underscores Kolkata Metro's commitment to enhancing urban connectivity and providing a seamless travel experience for its passengers.
