Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory, the specialised wheelset manufacturing division of Jupiter Wagons (JWL), has secured a Rs 2.55 billion contract from Braithwaite & Co. for the supply of 9,140 wheelsets. These wheelsets, with an 840 mm diameter, are designed for 25-tonne axle load applications and will contribute to the country's growing railway infrastructure needs.

This contract strengthens Jupiter’s position as a leading domestic manufacturer of high-performance railway wheelsets. With this order, the company's total order book has reached Rs 5.60 billion, reflecting its expanding role in the railway sector. As part of its strategic expansion, Jupiter aims to achieve Rs 6 billion in revenue from its wheel business in FY26, nearly doubling its current contribution. This growth strategy is supported by increased production capacity, strong order inflows, and enhanced domestic manufacturing capabilities.

To support this expansion, Jupiter is developing a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Odisha. The facility will significantly increase the company’s production capacity from 20,000 forged wheels and axles annually to 1,00,000 forged wheelsets per year. This expansion, backed by a Rs 25 billion investment, aligns with India’s objective of strengthening domestic manufacturing and reducing reliance on imports.

The project is advancing as scheduled, with axle production expected to commence by December 2026, while the full-fledged wheel and axle production unit is targeted for completion by December 2027. Through continued investments in advanced manufacturing, Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory remains committed to driving innovation and contributing to India's railway ecosystem.

Additionally, Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), the commercial EV arm of JWL, is preparing for the launch of JEM TEZ on March 3, 2025, in Indore. This initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to expand into sustainable and future-ready mobility solutions.
