Indian Railways Screens 22.5 Lakh Applicants for Assistant Loco Pilots

Indian Railways has launched an extensive recruitment process for 18,799 assistant loco pilots, screening 22.5 lakh applicants across 346 centers nationwide. The examination, which started on Monday and will run until Friday, is being conducted in 15 shifts and 18 languages. As of now, 13.5 lakh candidates have appeared, with an additional 9 lakh expected in the final two days. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has set up a control center at Rail Bhawan to oversee the exam process through CCTV surveillance, ensuring smooth conduct at all centers. This recruitment initiative follows the Railway Board's announcement of an annual recruitment calendar in February, enabling a more structured and timely process. RRB aims to conduct multiple recruitments throughout the year, with notifications issued quarterly, allowing candidates more chances to apply. This initiative aims to streamline recruitment, providing more opportunities for applicants and eliminating the long gaps between recruitment drives.
