Hyderabad Airport Metro Line Contract: L&T and NCC Bid

After Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd. (HAML) opened technical bids, Larsen & Toubro and NCC are the only 2 bidders for the civil construction and system procurement contract of Hyderabad Metro's 31 km Airport Express Line.

Under Hyderabad Metro's Phase 2 project, this semi-high-speed rail line along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) of Hyderabad would be constructed. Ten stations—nine elevated and one underground—will link Mindspace Junction with Rajiv Gandhi International (Shamshabad) Airport.

At the airport inside Hyderabad Aerocity, trains on this route will run on an elevated bridge for 28.5 km and underground for 2.5 km. It will take 20 minutes for trains traveling at a top speed of 120 kmph to get from Gachibowli to RGIA.

In May 2023, HAML issued a call for bids for this contract, setting a 36-month timeline and an estimated cost of Rs. 5688 crore.

Brief Scope: Design & Construction of Hyderabad Airport Express Metro Line from Raidurg Metro station to Shamshabad Airport Station (31 km) including Elevated Viaduct, 9 (nine) stations, E&M works, Track Works, supply and commissioning of Rolling Stock, Traction & Power Supply, Signaling & Telecommunications, AFC, etc.

The Airport Express Line will be operated by Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML), a joint venture between the Telangana government and the GMR Hyderabad International Airport.
