Hyderabad Airport Metro Advances With Connectivity Improvements

The Hyderabad Airport Metro (HAML), under the leadership of Managing Director NVS Reddy, has made significant progress in advancing Metro connectivity in Hyderabad. Accompanied by senior engineers and technical consultants, Reddy conducted a thorough inspection of the proposed Metro Rail corridors connecting Medchal and Shamirpet. HAML's ambitious vision aims to create a seamless 60 km Metro corridor from Medchal to the airport, enhancing urban connectivity and offering improved passenger amenities. The inspection focused on resolving technical challenges, particularly concerning alignment issues near the airport boundary. A key engineering feature of the project involves constructing an elevated corridor that would pass beneath the Begumpet Airport runway via a 600-m tunnel, a task presenting considerable engineering complexities. Key locations assessed during the inspection included: - JBS–Secunderabad Club Road - Staff Road (Picket KV School Road) - Mudfort Road - Tivoli Junction Road - Diamond Point Junction to Hasmathpet Junction to Bowenpally Road - Tadbund–Anjaneya Swamy Temple Road - Tadbund Junction to Airport Office Junction to Bowenpally Check-Post Road Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has proposed an alternative approach, suggesting the integration of the Paradise-Medchal and JBS-Shamirpet corridors. This adjustment would negate the need for the tunnel under the airport runway, simplifying the project while retaining robust connectivity. The Hyderabad Airport Metro project promises to revolutionise the city's transport infrastructure, delivering faster and more reliable travel options for both residents and visitors.
