HAML says Land Acquisition for Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II in Progress

The land acquisition process for the Hyderabad Metro Rail in the Old City, along the nearly seven-and-a-half-kilometre-long MGBS-Chandrayangutta route, has been expedited. As per the instructions of Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the acquisition of 1,100 identified affected properties is progressing swiftly, according to Hyderabad Airport Metro (HAML) Managing Director NVS Reddy.

NVS Reddy, along with Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durisetty, has been continuously reviewing the land acquisition process, as stated in an official release.

The HAML MD mentioned that requisitions for 900 properties had already been submitted to the District Collector under the Land Acquisition Act, with the Collector issuing preliminary notifications for 800 properties in phases.

The Collector has also completed the preliminary declaration for 400 of the notified properties. The awards for compensation for 200 affected properties are expected to be completed by the end of the month. Afterward, compensation will be paid promptly, and demolition work will commence, the release added.

The HAML Managing Director emphasized that these actions would facilitate the smooth construction of the metro rail route in the Old City.

NVS Reddy also stated that negotiations are on-going with the owners of the affected properties. During the road expansion and metro construction, all religious and historical structures are being protected through engineering solutions.
