GMRC floats tender to prepare DPR for MetroLite/MetroNeo in Gujarat
With a five-month deadline, the consultant will create a DPR for rail-based mass transport with the Metro-Neo/MetroLite System for Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, and Jamnagar.
The project’s goal is to create a DPR for the city's rail-based MRTS MetroNeo/Lite in the urban planning area, which includes the Municipal Corporation.
In terms of civil works, the system works, financial/cost planning, and so on, the scope of the DPR will essentially follow the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs’ recommendations.
A set of priority corridors and MRTS mode are among the recommendations to ensure a high level of safety and service standards for MRTS users. The MRTS will be operated and maintained to the highest possible standard, allowing for maximum operational efficiency.
The DPR assures that the land values are unlocked and that the land available is used to its full potential.
It will also look at the prospect of engaging in transit-oriented development to increase the project's financial viability and benefit the community it serves.
Through this project, it will enable phased development of the MRTS, as well as its simplicity of implementation, financial feasibility, and contribution to improving the quality of life in metropolitan areas. It will ensure that the city has a long-term public transportation plan.
