Gateway Distriparks Unveils Double-Stack Rail Service

Gateway Distriparks, a prominent logistics provider, has launched a double-stack rail service at its Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Faridabad. This development marks a significant milestone in India’s logistics sector by boosting efficiency in container transportation, particularly for the movement of import and export goods between ports and the northern hinterlands. The double-stack service allows for two containers to be transported atop each other, maximizing space utilization and reducing transit times.

With this launch, Gateway Distriparks aims to reduce logistical costs and enhance turnaround times for businesses relying on ICD Faridabad as a key node in their supply chain. The double-stack rail services are expected to reduce congestion at ports and improve the efficiency of goods movement. Additionally, this initiative aligns with India’s broader vision to create a robust, efficient, and interconnected logistics network, especially significant as the country focuses on becoming a global manufacturing hub.

According to officials, the introduction of double-stack rail services will enhance capacity at ICD Faridabad, accommodate larger cargo volumes, and optimize rail connectivity to major ports. This service is expected to benefit industries across automotive, agriculture, retail, and e-commerce sectors by providing a faster, cost-effective logistics solution.
