Gateway Distriparks launches double stack rail services
With the addition of the Faridabad hub, GDL now operates double stack services at three hubs, including its ICDs in Gurugram and Viramgam, all connected via the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). This connectivity offers direct links to major ports like Mundra, Pipavav, and Nhava Sheva, delivering a competitive edge in terms of efficient and cost-effective logistics.
The double stack rail services boost capacity by up to 30% per trip, optimising freight costs and expediting deliveries. According to Prem Kishan Dass Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of GDL, "This strategic move will benefit our customers by reducing transit times and logistics costs, fostering regional trade growth."
These services are expected to benefit exporters and importers across Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and nearby regions by enhancing supply chain reliability and cutting the carbon footprint of transportation. GDL operates a network of 10 container terminals, 34 trainsets, and over 560 trailers, providing comprehensive solutions including warehousing, rail and road transportation, and container handling for the EXIM industry.
