The entire 82-kilometre Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut rapid rail corridor, known as Namo Bharat, will begin full operations by mid-2025, according to Niko Warbanoff, CEO of Deutsche Bahn (DB). DB is responsible for the operation and maintenance of India's first regional rapid transit service (RRTS).
"We are currently operating 55 kilometres of the line, and the entire corridor is expected to begin operations by mid-2025," Warbanoff stated. He emphasised that the Delhi-Meerut project could serve as a model for future RRTS developments in India. "Regional rapid rail and metro projects in India represent a significant opportunity. The Delhi-Meerut corridor will act as a model for future RRTS projects in the subcontinent," he added.
