Authorities targets June 2024 for Hassan-Mangaluru rail electrification
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel expressed optimism that the realisation of his proposal for the Vande Bharat Express between the state capital and Mangaluru hinged on the successful completion of the railway electrification initiative. Responding to the request for extending the Mangaluru Central-Kabaka Puttur evening passenger train to Subrahmanya Road station, Vijaya stated that the railway electrification between Kabaka Puttur and Subrahmanya Road station would conclude within a month. Subsequently, the Southern Railway is likely to introduce and maintain a Mainline Electrical Multiple Unit (MEMU) rake, operating as a commuter train on the Mangaluru-Subrahmanya Road station route.
Furthermore, Vijaya highlighted ongoing development works at Subrahmanya Road station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with an estimated cost of Rs 230 million. She emphasised that these initiatives are progressing as planned.
