Andhra Pradesh Seeks Approval for Visakhapatnam Metro
The Visakhapatnam Metro project includes two main corridors: one extending from the city’s northern areas to the southern regions, and the other connecting crucial transport hubs within the city. Spanning a total of around 42 kilometers, the metro will provide efficient, rapid transit options to residents and visitors, reducing travel time and traffic bottlenecks.
The project has been under consideration for several years, and the state government has already completed the detailed project report (DPR) and is in discussions with various stakeholders. With central clearance, the metro will be an essential component of the city's transport network, improving access to key commercial, residential, and industrial zones.
The Visakhapatnam metro is part of a broader effort to modernize the state’s infrastructure and enhance urban mobility. Once completed, it will not only ease traffic issues but also contribute to sustainable, low-carbon transportation in the region. Furthermore, the metro system will have a significant impact on real estate growth, employment generation, and overall economic development.
The Andhra Pradesh government remains hopeful that the central authorities will expedite the clearance process, recognizing the critical role of the metro in shaping the city’s future as a smart, well-connected metropolis.
