Chairman of Visaka Industries Limited Dr G Vivekanand unveiled the first ATUM Charge, a self-sustaining, solar-powered EV charging station at SP Road in Secunderabad, Hyderabad.
ATUM Charge is an ecosystem designed with the EV mobility revolution in India in mind, and it assists customers in adopting sustainable and environmentally friendly modes of transportation. ATUM Charge is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Visaka Industries Limited. The ATUM Solar Roof will allow the entire electric vehicle charging proposition to transition to 100% solar, whereas most EV charging stations currently use electricity generated by thermal power plants, which is one of the primary sources of pollution. ATUM Charge, the universal EV Charging Station for all EVs, will also serve as the service centre and official test ride centre for Atumobile's ATUM 1.0, a café racer-styled e-bike. Automobile customers will be able to charge their e-bikes for free, while other brand EV owners will only be charged a nominal fee at ATUM Charge Stations to support their customers and encourage the adoption of electric vehicles. ATUM Charge Stations will also feature free Wi-Fi and workstations that people can use as a satellite office while charging their electric vehicles. The ATUM solar roof, which produces 40% more electricity in the same amount of space as traditional solar panels, powers ATUM Charge EV Charging Stations. ATUM, unlike many conventional solar tiles on the market, does not require any roofing underlayment because it is a stand-alone roof. ATUM is classified as a Class-A fire-rated and designed to withstand wind speeds of more than 250kmph, making it hurricane-proof. It also makes use of GreenPro Certified material, making it a highly sustainable, dependable, and safe solar roof. Visaka has currently installed 4 KW capacity panels that can charge up to 10-12 vehicles (2/3/4 wheeler) per day, which is convenient given that any EV today takes between 6-8 hours to fully charge. Three charging ports are available at the facility. Image SourceAlso read: Assam announces EV policy with 25% EV penetration goals by 2026
