Vaduthala-Perandoor Bridge Project: Funds Allotted for CRZ Study

In a step towards constructing the long-awaited Vaduthala-Perandoor bridge, the Kerala state government has allocated Rs 1.5 million to conduct a Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) study for the project. This allocation is part of the Rs 325 million administrative approval granted earlier.

Ernakulam MLA T.J. Vinod stated that the National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS) in Thiruvananthapuram is tasked with preparing the CRZ study and report. The report will be submitted to the Kerala Coastal Zone Management Authority (KCZMA) for approval, which is essential before initiating the tendering process. Of the allocated Rs 1.5 million, Rs 1 million will be paid to KCZMA, while Rs 500,000 will cover NCESS fees and initial foundation work for the bridge.

The revised alignment for the bridge was approved in October 2023. Under this plan, the approach road will connect to Chinmaya Cross Road. For the road construction, 33.44 cents of land in Perandoor and 56 cents in Vaduthala will be acquired.

Engineers from NCESS have been consulted, and a preliminary site inspection is expected soon, marking another significant step in advancing the project.
