In a significant boost to Gujarat's infrastructure, the Central Government has approved the Tharad-Mehsana-Ahmedabad National High-Speed Corridor, with an investment of ?105.34 billion. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sanctioned ?506.55 billion for various nationwide road infrastructure projects, marking a milestone for the Bharatmala Project.

The 214 km long six-lane, access-controlled corridor will traverse through the Banaskatha, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad districts. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel commended the Central Government for this critical decision, emphasizing its potential to significantly boost the state?s industrial and economic growth.

The corridor is expected to enhance connectivity to key sectors, including pharmaceuticals, electronics, and Special Economic Zones (SEZs), while also reducing transportation costs and saving time. Chief Minister Patel also expressed gratitude to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari for the generous allocation to Gujarat.

As part of the Bharatmala Project's Phase I, the National Highway Authority is also constructing a six-lane, access-controlled greenfield expressway from Amritsar to Jamnagar. This economic corridor will span Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, facilitating comprehensive expressway connectivity between Amritsar and Mumbai by connecting the Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor with Ahmedabad.

With the approval of the Tharad-Deesa-Mehsana-Ahmedabad National High-Speed Corridor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a pivotal contribution to Gujarat?s industrial growth, promising to transform the state?s economic landscape.
