Survey for Six-Lane Indore-Ujjain Road Construction Starts Next Month
The project will involve building six underpasses and three flyovers between Indore and Ujjain. Officials indicated that construction is planned to begin by December. The state government will allocate Rs 16.19 billion for the road development. The 46 km stretch from Indore's Aurobindo Hospital to Harifatak Bridge will be upgraded to a six-lane road.
Currently, the Indore-Ujjain road is 17 metres wide, with an additional width of eight and a half meters on each side. Upon completion, the road will be expanded to 25 meters wide, with each lane measuring four meters. The route will feature separate lanes for two-wheelers, cars, and heavy vehicles. The road will be developed in three phases, with the first phase covering 14 km.
Additionally, new bridges will be constructed over rivers and canals, along with half a dozen underpasses. MPRDC officials mentioned that the contract process for the road construction is expected to be finalised in the coming days.
