Commercial and residential property owners in Cantonment are expressing their plea to the state government to reconsider the plan regarding the widening of the Secunderabad Club-Trimulgherry road to 200ft. They have shown approval towards the proposal for an elevated skyway spanning 11 kilometers between Gymkhana Grounds and Hakimpet Airforce Station.

Several owners have articulated concerns that the widening initiative would negatively impact businesses and longstanding properties. According to businessman V Amarnath, a more viable option would involve widening the road to 100-110ft, while also incorporating space for footpaths. He remarked, "Numerous roads within the city effectively manage traffic flow despite being only 100ft wide."

Prior to the initiation of construction on the elevated skyway, residents and property owners are requesting the government to seek their consent through the issuance of a public notice. K Subramanyam, a 90-year-old resident of Vikrampuri Colony in Karkhana, owns a property constructed over five decades ago, delineated by SCB and defense officials. He conveyed, "Numerous properties will be demolished against the wishes of the owners."

Asserting that a majority of property owners hail from middle-class backgrounds and dutifully pay taxes to the Cantonment Board, Subramanyam emphasized, "While we welcome the construction of the six-lane elevated skyway, we also urge the government to provide compensation before commencing demolition works."
