Rajasthan Stretch of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to Complete This Year

The Rajasthan segment of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is expected to be completed within this year. Stretching over 373 km through Rajasthan, approximately 35 km of construction remains, with authorities expressing confidence that it will be finished by September. Once completed, the travel time between Kota and Delhi will be reduced to just four hours.

Officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) stated that about 27 km of the stretch between Sawai Madhopur, Dausa, and Bundi should be completed before April. Additionally, a tunnel near Kota is also anticipated to be finished by September. Although the project was initially planned for completion in 2024, delays were encountered due to difficulties in tunnel construction and other related issues.

The expressway currently features eight lanes but is designed for future expansion to twelve lanes to meet growing traffic demands. The NHAI has acquired land in advance to ensure no further land acquisition will be required for future expansions. The current maximum speed limit for light vehicles is 120 km/h, with plans to increase it to 140 km/h later.

Traffic began on the expressway with the section between Sohna and Bhandarej near Dausa, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since then, construction has progressed swiftly.

The NHAI intends to complete the entire project by the end of this year or early next year, aiming to enable traffic flow on a route covering approximately 1386 km from Delhi to Mumbai in a claimed travel time of twelve hours.

Additionally, work on a four-lane expressway connecting Jaipur to Bandikui is expected to be completed by March.
