MoRTH approves 50 national highway projects for Manipur

The Ministry of road transport and highway approved 50 national highway projects with a total length of 1026 km in Manipur, according to an official release. Currently, 44 of these projects totaling 902 km are located in the state's hills out of which 36 projects of Rs 120 billion for 777 km are in progress, while eight projects totaling 125 km have already been completed.
The press release said, “Under CRIF, the Ministry approves the list of work on State roads as prioritised by the State Government. Out of 111 Nos. of works in the priority list given by the State Government, depending on the BOS ratio, the Ministry has approved 57 Nos. of works in the order of priority. The BOS ratio now stands 9.81 against the permissible BoS ratio of 4 for hilly State.”
The Ministry has two national highway projects for Rs 13.50 billion total 90 km in length, both of which are located in hills, in its Annual Plan 2024–25, the release added.
“Reviewed the progress of 38 ongoing National Highway projects covering 808 km in Manipur, alongside Union MoS Ajay Tamta Ji, H D Malhotra, Manipur CM N Biren Singh, and senior officials, in Delhi today. The focus of the meeting was on accelerating development in Manipur, ensuring timely completion of these vital infrastructure projects. This will not only improve connectivity but also drive economic growth, reaffirming our commitment to the advancement of the North-east region.” Nitin Gadkari said in a social media post.
