Union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari announced a 114km greenfield ring-road project worth 5000 crore covering more than half a dozen districts in Jharkhand and promised that by end of 2024, the state is set to get projects worth about 2 lakh crore boosting road connectivity.

The Union minister also laid the foundation stones of several projects including national highways, road overbridges, flyovers worth more than 13,000 crore while taking part in events in Ranchi and Jamshedpur. The senior BJP leader was welcomed by several party office-bearers and workers at the Ranchi airport. While he announced 21 projects worth around 9400 crore in Ranchi, in his Jamshedpur leg of the visit earlier in the day, the Union minister announced projects worth around 3843 crore.

In Jamshedpur, he laid the foundation stone for a 10.4 km four-lane double-decker elevated corridor from Paridih to Baliguma on the outskirts of the city on NH-33 at an investment of 1876 crore. To be constructed in two phases it is expected to get over by end of 2024. “The double decker’s upper road will be used for vehicles coming from Ranchi to Jamshedpur or from Kolkata/Odisha to Jamshedpur through the NH-33. The lower lane will be used as service lane," he said.

In Ranchi, he announced 114km-long four-lane ring-road projects covering Jamshedpur, Gumla, Hazaribag, Lohardaga and Latehar to boost intra and inter-state movements. “We are working on 260 cable car and ropeway projects to connect towns and cities. ,” he said.
