Hyderabad Regional Ring Road: NHAI extends bidding date till June 2
The Regional Ring Road (RRR) project worth Rs 17,000 crore is to be adopted over the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Telangana. NHAI has proposed bids from expert consultancies for preparing a detailed project report of the northern part of the 340 km access-controlled expressway.
The last date of opening the bids was May 25, but NHAI has extended it till June 2, citing the current Covid-19 situation in the country along with the requests from the bidders.
Once completed, the new expressway will be the largest ring road in the country connecting all the major districts of Telangana. The project is to be developed in two parts under the government's Bharatmala Pariyojana phase-1 at an estimated cost of Rs 17,000 crore.
The project intends to develop a 26,000 km long economic corridor, along with the Golden Quadrilateral, north-south, and the east-west corridors, which will carry a bulk of freight traffic.
The state government will support 50% of its land acquisition, allocated at Rs 750 crore in its 2021-22 budget. The northern part of the project stretches up to 180 km with an estimated cost of Rs 9,500 crore. The southern part of the project stretches up to 160 km and at an estimated cost of Rs 6,480 crore.
