Gujarat CM OKs Rs 17.40 bn for road infra in industrial, quarry areas

The Chief Minister's approval for funding the strengthening and upgrading of roads aims to improve the Ease of Doing Business by facilitating the movement of raw materials. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given preliminary approval for allocating Rs 17.40 billion to upgrade and strengthen roads connecting industrial and quarry areas, thus enhancing the state's road infrastructure. This funding will cover 688 km of roads linking 65 industrial and quarry zones.

To implement this project, the Chief Minister has adopted an innovative approach by addressing the needs of the Industries and Mines Department. Constructing these roads will reduce traffic congestion in the cities, towns, and villages they connect, providing well-suited roads for vehicular movement. Gujarat, one of the leading states in the country, boasts the highest number of industrial areas. Additionally, its policy-driven approach, robust infrastructure, and ease of doing business have positioned Gujarat as the state with the largest share of FDI in the nation.

The Vibrant Global Summit, initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has spurred exceptional industrial growth in the state, attracting large-scale industries. To further the Prime Minister's vision of 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' through industrial growth, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has increased financial allocations for the road sector by over 80 per cent in the past two years to enhance the road network.

Under this allocation, 83 kilometres of roads will be widened to four lanes, and 173 kilometres will be expanded to 10 meters. Additionally, 432 kilometres of roads will be strengthened and upgraded, with necessary improvements to bridges and cross-drainage structures. Detailed project reports will be prepared, and flyovers will be constructed on these roads as needed.
