Green Belt for New Yamuna Bridge Ahead of Mahakumbh-2025
The proposed development will cover a 5.5 km radius from the New Yamuna Bridge, starting from Bangad Dharamshala crossing and extending to the campus of SHUATS. The initiative involves extensive beautification and repair work, with a proposal of ?400 million submitted to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for approval.
Once approval is granted, NHAI plans to invite tenders to initiate the project. "Our goal is to complete the work before the Mahakumbh-2025 starts," Mishra stated.
The beautification plan includes planting trees along both sides of the highway, installation of new colorful lighting, and repairs to existing lighting fixtures. Additionally, there are plans to add another layer to the road as part of the repair work.
According to NHAI officials, the execution of this development project hinges on budget approval. Upon receiving the necessary funds, the tender process will commence, leading to the proposed renovation and beautification efforts.
This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing the infrastructure and environmental aesthetics of Prayagraj, welcoming millions of devotees expected to attend the upcoming Mahakumbh.
