Govt Approves 4-Lane Road along Idar–Badoli Bypass
Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, commented on the project’s importance, stating, "The approval of Rs 705.09 billion for the construction of the 4-lane road on the Idar–Badoli bypass is a crucial step towards improving connectivity in Gujarat. This project will not only ease traffic congestion but also provide safer and more efficient travel for commuters. Our government is committed to enhancing road infrastructure, and this project is an example of our dedication to promoting seamless transportation across the country."
National Highway 168G (NH-168G) is a vital route connecting Mehsana to Shamlaji, passing through key towns including Visnagar, Vadnagar, Kheralu, Idar, Badoli, and Bhiloda. Starting near Mehsana from NH-68, NH-168G runs through some of Gujarat’s most significant towns, eventually terminating at NH-48 near Shamlaji, close to the Rajasthan border. This highway plays a crucial role in connecting several important locations, including Ambaji, Mehsana, and Shamlaji.
The existing road, which runs through Idar town, often experiences severe congestion due to a limited right of way (RoW) and high traffic volumes. Idar also serves as a key transit hub for vehicles traveling to Ambaji, Mehsana, and Shamlaji, making this development even more crucial for the region. The proposed 4-lane road development will address these issues by upgrading the existing stretch with paved shoulders, flexible pavement, grade-separated structures, and protective works. These enhancements are designed to improve safety, reduce travel time, and promote smoother traffic flow along this important route. The project aims to provide much-needed relief to both local commuters and long-distance travelers by easing congestion, improving safety measures, and ensuring a more efficient transportation network.
