GMDA to build bus depots off Dwarka Expressway

GMDA has reportely identified 7 acre in Daulatabad and 9.5 acre in Mohammad Heri village along Dwarka Expressway to build two bus depots. The authority has already sought the transfer of land from MCG. The proposed depots are expected to improve connectivity in the newly developed sectors, which have limited public transport options. GMDA currently operates two depots in Sectors 10 and 52, with a third depot and an electric substation planned for Sector 48. Planned on 7.5 acre, the work for the construction of the depot in sector 48 has already started, and it is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025. Additionally, the GMDA is also working on setting up 154 bus queue shelters in new sectors. Of these, 80 will be set up in sectors 68 to 95, while 74 will be built in sectors 99 to 115. The project will take 12 months to complete. The shelters will have lay-bys to prevent buses from obstructing main traffic lanes. These shelters will further enhance passengers' safety while boarding and disembarking and ensure smooth traffic flow on main roads.
