DC Muhilan addresses roadwork concerns, urges swift action

Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan of Dakshina Kannada, accompanied by a team of officials, conducted an inspection of the ongoing four-lane roadwork from BC Road to Addahole on Wednesday, February 7.

The assessment began at the Brahmarshee Narayana Guru Circle in B C Road and extended to Addahole. During the visit, DC Muhilan attentively heard the grievances of the local residents. In response, he directed Abdulla Javed Azmi, the Project Director of NHAI, to ensure that the construction work proceeds without causing inconvenience to both motorists and the general public.

DC Muhilan specifically addressed concerns raised by residents near a hill at Melkar, which is being excavated for the roadwork. Locals from Kalladka informed the DC about health issues arising from dust generated during the construction. To mitigate this, the DC instructed Tahsildar D Archana Bhat to ensure that the local gram panchayat waters the area daily to prevent dust from becoming a nuisance. Additionally, problems such as the cutting of drinking water pipelines were brought to the DC's attention, and he instructed authorities to resolve these issues promptly. Farmer leaders also discussed the challenges related to certain land acquisitions and compensation matters.

Taking note of water stagnation in the wastewater drain at Uppinangady, the DC urged the local gram panchayat to address such problems using available grants. He issued a stern warning to the contractor, emphasising the need to complete the construction of the retaining wall near the drain before the onset of the monsoon.
