In a significant boost to Bhubaneswar’s road infrastructure, the Central Government has granted its in-principle approval for widening the existing bridge at Palasuni over the Gangua Nala to a six-lane structure. The move aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the rapidly growing smart city.

The proposal, approved by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, comes after Bhubaneswar Member of Parliament Aparajita Sarangi met with Gadkari during her visit to Delhi. The long-awaited project is expected to provide much-needed relief to commuters struggling with traffic jams in the Palasuni area.

Project Details The project, which has been sanctioned with a budget of Rs 50 crore (approximately $6 million), involves expanding the existing four-lane bridge over the Gangua Nala to a six-lane structure. The construction will include building an additional bridge spanning 240 meters, providing two extra lanes on each side to enhance traffic flow.

Currently, the road over the Gangua Nala has one lane on each side for both left and right directions. The expansion will significantly improve the efficiency of traffic movement and help reduce daily congestion in the area.

Expressing Gratitude Aparajita Sarangi expressed her deep gratitude to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving the project and for his continued support of Bhubaneswar’s development. The approval is seen as a positive step towards strengthening the city's infrastructure and improving commuter convenience.

The road improvement initiative is expected to contribute substantially to the city’s overall growth and ease the daily struggle faced by commuters in the Palasuni region.
