Centre Approves Rs 1.76 Bn for Telangana under SASCI Scheme

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved Rs 1.76 billion for Telangana under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme. This funding is based on the state's achievements in specific milestones outlined under the scheme. The Telangana government has successfully completed Milestone 1 and Milestone 2 of Initiative A and Milestone 1 of Initiative B. The state is eligible for Rs 125 crore under Initiative A and Rs 51.5 crore under Initiative B.

Under Milestone 1 of Initiative A, Telangana implemented a Motor Vehicle (MV) tax concession, qualifying for an incentive of Rs 50 crore. Milestone 2 involved the scrapping of government vehicles older than 15 years, with the state receiving Rs 75 crore for this achievement.

For Milestone 1 of Initiative B, Telangana has awarded contracts for Automated Testing Stations (ATSs) across 37 districts, including 21 in priority areas, earning an incentive of Rs 51.5 crore. The state is now focused on completing further improvements to road infrastructure under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).
