The construction of the Aligarh-Palwal National Highway is set to begin before Holi, marking a significant step in improving connectivity between Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi. The 72 km highway project has completed planning and is being developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at a total cost of Rs 13.61 billion ($163 million).

Land Acquisition and Compensation The project requires 281 hectares of land, out of which 100 hectares have been acquired. Compensation of Rs 1 billion ($12 million) has already been distributed among 700 farmers, while an additional Rs 400 million ($5 million) has been allocated for 280 more farmers. Compensation demands for the remaining 1,200 farmers are under review.

Key Features of the Project 46 km of new road construction, primarily between Khairshwar Chowk and Palwal. A 33 km diversion at Khair and Jattari to ease traffic. A toll plaza to be established in Rajapur village, Khair. Four-lane roads from Khair to Andala (10 km) and Jattari onward (3 km). Underpasses (7-12 meters) at Loda, Andala, and Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh University. A 30-meter flyover following the Defence Corridor.

Officials are optimistic about the project's impact. "This highway will significantly reduce travel time and improve connectivity between key states," said a senior NHAI official.
