Delhi Amritsar Expressway : 6 bidders for Spur-I construction

The construction Package Spur-I of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra (DAK) Expressway of about 650 km received six construction bidders after the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) opened technical bids.
The four-lane highway of the greenfield project beginning from KMP Expressway, North-West of Delhi, will be expanded to eight lanes, along with provisions of road services. The Phase-I construction included the construction of a 397.7 km long greenfield expressway between Delhi-Ludhiana-Gurdaspur and a 99 km long spur connecting Nakodar and Amritsar.
The Package Spur-I of about 40.90 km connects Nakodar Interchange with Dhunda village with a 700 m cable bridge over Beas River, connecting Kapurthala-Tarn Taran districts.
Last year, NHAI had invited bids for this project with an estimated cost of about Rs 1,527.97 crore. The project is expected to get completed in three years with a 10-year maintenance period.
The six bidders for the project are Ceigall India Limited, Larsen and Toubro (L&T), GR Infraprojects Limited, Ashoka Buildcon Limited, Tata Projects Limited and SP Singla Constructions Private Limited.
The scope of the greenfield project includes the construction of the 4-lane Greenfield Amritsar connectivity of Amritsar with the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, along with Kapurthala-Sultanpur Lodhi road Isharwal village to MDR Junction at Dhunda village on an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) basis under Border Military Police (BMP) in Punjab.
The bids have been sent for technical bid evaluation, followed by the financial bids of the qualified bidders to be opened to reveal the lowest bidder for the construction.
The greenfield project includes 15 packages, including 12 on the Delhi-Gurdaspur of 397 km and three on the Nakodar-Amritsar spur of 99 km. From the total, 14 have been awarded, and only Package Spur-I is left to be awarded.
