Tata Projects to build new airport at Jewar

Tata Projects, Tata group’s infrastructure, and construction arm to set up the national capital region’s new airport at Jewar.

Tata outbid the Shapoorji Pallonji Group and Larsen & Toubro for the same. The deal size has not been revealed, but it might be pegged at over Rs 6,000 crore.

Tata Projects will be responsible for constructing the runway, terminal, landside facilities, roads, airside infrastructure, utilities, and other ancillary buildings at the Noida International Airport.

The company has scored higher than its rival bidders under the quality and cost-based criteria.

Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), Chief Executive Officer, Christoph Schnellmann said with the award of this EPC contract, their project enters its next phase, witnessing a rapid increase in the speed of construction activities on site. With Tata Projects, they are working to provide a passenger terminal, runway, and other infrastructure having a capacity of 12 million passengers yearly, by 2024.

The new airport might be functional by 2024. The first phase of the airport is on track with the closure of the EPC contract. It will be ready within three years from the date of the commencement of the concession period.

Tata Projects Limited, CEO and MD-designate, Vinayak Pai said that they will deploy their latest technologies in the airport construction, along with meeting the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability.
